Homemade Beef Hamburgers with Bacon and Veggies

I like hamburgers, but most made by me, they are no only in the Fast Food category so, I am trying to make them in different variants without any bread crumbs to chance the palate and transform them in a savory, delicious, healthy, and comfort food. You can eat them with rice, potatoes, salad, sweet potatoes, green been or any side dish that you prefer.

The first to bear in mind is the quality of the meat you are going to buy, less grease or more, is your election but it´s more important that you have a clear knowledge of what is on meet if is not organic or is organic in order to have more nutrients or less and more nutrition.

If the meat is not organic, you can get their proteins and nutrients like organic, but they differ in other important issues that we should have in consideration. I am going to name some, they are GMO and grain-free, antibiotics bacteria-resistant, growth hormones, pesticides, chemicals, toxic metals, and fewer nutrients that harm the body.

The organic meat has more Omega 3 and the fat in it is good for the brain and health in general because they have more conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), less unhealthy fatty acids. more natural Vitamin E and A that are antioxidants are high in iron, also, the cows are feeding with organic grass pasture that enhances the environmental health, plus, they are fewer stresses and happy.

As has been said, when you take quality healthy fats, your blood sugar keeps normal levels, helping you do not gain in weight, protect your heart because they have fewer cholesterol levels and protect the heart health.

Always, you should moderate the quantities to ingest because our body is a perfect machine that needs certain amounts of daily food, then, not much or little should be ingested, we must look for a balance of what we eat daily.

The organics meats are expensive, I really know that but they are more beneficial to us and worth it each dollar spent it. Maybe you can go to nearest farmers to buy them there, I think is cheaper than buy in the market.

Let´s assemble the hamburgers first!.

The meat should be cold but not frozen. Those are my ingredients and those are very tasty indeed, but you can add other spices you like it.

You also can choose to buy them, or make them in advance and store in your refrigerator 1 or 2 days before, they can be frozen also. Yields around 18 -20 hamburgers.

This recipe is based on 3 hamburgers, but yields around 18-20.

Ingredients for Hamburgers:
  1. 1 pound  (16 oz) of grounded meat
  2. 1/2 teaspoon of salt (is your election put less)
  3. 1 egg
  4. 1/4 cup of parmesan cheese (optional)
  5. 1/2 teaspoon of oregano
  6. 1/4 teaspoon of cumin
  7. 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon
  8. 1/4 cup of cut parsley leaves.
  9. 1/4 grounded black pepper ( or you can put mixed colorful pepper)
  10. 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of paprika
  11. 1 small onion or a 1/2  of 1 medium
  12. 1/2 of bell pepper (red, green, yellow, or if you want, you can put hot pepper)
  13. 1 teaspoon of horseradish sauce.
  14. 2 or 3 chopped chives /optional)
Directions

Mix all the ingredients together, let stay in your refrigerator at least 2 hours for flavorful hamburgers and also it permits that the meat absorbs the wet ingredients.

Mold them with your hands in a circle about 1/3 "thick, the thick they are will need more cooking time, if you want to cook them later, put each one between nylon wrap, so they do not stick each other, in your refrigerator for later cooking or in your freezer.

How do you cook them?

You can choose where to cook them, but never forget that they have to be at the intern temperature of 160°F. Here, I let you know the cooking time.

- On skillet: Put your skillet on medium-high, wait until is high, add the fat to cook, 1 tablespoon for 2 hamburgers is ok. Cook them around 3-5 minutes per sides, depends on the grade of doneness you want. Don´t pinch or squeeze them against the pan.

- On the oven: 350°F between 15 - 30 minutes, you have to turn them in half of the time.

- On the grill: Grill on 375 - 400°F, cook about 4 minutes per side. You have to put your grill before until it has an adequate temperature.

Ingredients to add to skillet version
  1. 1 or 2 slices of bacon for a hamburger (less or none is ok)
  2. 1 finely sliced  medium onion (mine was a bigger one)
  3. big one bell pepper cut into strips
  4. 1/4 tablespoon of salt
  5. pinch of black pepper
  6. 1 bag or half of Brussels sprouts (you can put sweet bean, peas, carrots or any veggie you want).
Directions

Firs put your bacon to cook until is crunchy, let rest in a paper towel and in this caramelized fat put your hamburgers to cook in batches if your skillet is small if not, you can cook all of them at once.

When they are done, get them off the skillet to rest, meanwhile, in the same fat put the brussels sprouts with salt and black pepper on medium-high until they are cooked and browned.

Add sliced onions, lower the temperature to medium-low until they start to caramelize, then add the cut bell pepper the salt and stir until they are fully caramelized, lower to low temperature and put your cooked hamburgers at the bottom of the skillet, be careful they won't be broken.

With your spoon, put all the veggies at the top of each one and put a lid to maintain them warm and moist, then, turn off the stovetop and you are done!, When you are going to serve them put the chopped chives at the top of each, and the side dish could be what you want.
